Turkish YouTube Ban Lifted

Few days back Turkish ISP’s banned YouTube.com that made news. Turkish YouTube users complained they can’t even access YouTube with proxy sites.

YouTube Web site was blocked because of videos insulting Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey.

After two days of ban, Turkish Telecom officials reported that Turkey has lifted its ban on YouTube. Ahter Kutadgu, head of corporate communications for Turkish Telecom, said his company had been notified of a second court decision to lift the ban, and that the company had immediately opened access to YouTube.

The paper said that the ban had been condemned by the media freedom group Reporters without Borders, and drew attention to Turkey’s shaky record on permitting free expression.
